Case Study 3

Asper Consulting uses a typology of four different market types when assessing agri-food systems:

Group    Growing markets
Group (1)    Shallow/thin markets
Group (2)    Fragile and conflict affected markets
Group (4)    Climate stressed or natural disaster affected markets.

An entire country can belong into one or several of these categories and several market types can be found in one country depending on agro-ecology, watershed, human factors, foreign influence, etc.  We have used this approach to cut through complexity our client was facing and it helped saves hundered of hours or work by focusing on learning what has worked and what was learned from the specific type of system we were dealing with and integrate this learning into the system analysis and intervention deisgn.
