The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is implementing the JFPR 9184 MYA Economic Empowerment of the Poor and Women in the East-West Economic Corridor Project funded by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR) and administered by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project aims to increase employment and income of owners and employees of micro and small enterprises in Mon State.
In particular the project has pre-selected “bamboo” as a material with high market potential both as raw material and also to develop products with high standards of quality for local and international markets, including local international demand and tourists who are willing to buy bamboo products/ handicrafts/ souvenirs during their stay in Myanmar. Bamboo is widely used in Mon State to produce different products such as furniture and houseware.
Asper was selected to Project with a comprehensive and clear overview of the local bamboo value chain in Mon state, supporting the Project in bamboo specific product selection, treatment, design, improvement, training, market linkages and market and network development.
