Asper was commissioned by PwC to work with three apparel brands (Hennes & Mauritz AB, Lindex and KappAhl) in Myanmar, to improve pay transparency, productivity and workers’take-home pay in the garment factories from which they source.
This partnership is part of the DFID a 5-year programme – Work Opportunities for Women (WOW) – managed by PwC to provide technical assistance, research services, fund and grant management. The objective of WOW is to enhance the economic empowerment of women working in global value chains.
Through this partnership WOW would support these three brands to introduce an innovative pay transparency improvement model in a group of pilot factories. The evidence from the pilot intervention would generate impact, tools and insights that will be captured in a series of evidence, guidance, toolkits and digests. The dissemination of a case study would be supported by these three brands to scale up this intervention in other factories in their supply chains in Myanmar. Depending on the result of the pilot, the three brands have provided early indication that this intervention could be rolled out in 16 factories in their supply chains in Myanmar, reaching an estimated 14,400 women.
